For twenty-five years, I have helped leaders make high-consequence decisions in environments where there wasn't a playbook across some of the most demanding environments — post-conflict reconstruction, Wall Street, institutional strategy, startups, organizational transitions, and global development. Universities, governments, investors, researchers, and entrepreneurs. Systems that were broken, fragile, or being built from scratch. 

Across those environments, one pattern kept emerging, in the organizations I built or led, and eventually in myself, intensity without stability doesn't sustain. It consumes and breaks. And the leaders who last, who contribute at the highest level over time, are not those who can endure the most. They are those who have built the internal and structural conditions that make intensity focused, coherent, and sustainable. 

This insight is the thread running through everything here — the writing, the speaking, the framework I am building, and a larger work in progress.
